About Galileo’s Telescope

When Galileo Galilei was in Venice around 1609, he heard about a gadget that allowed far away objects to be observed closely. He became fascinated by such an invention and it didn’t take him long to work out the principle behind the instrument. By the 1610, he had made such amazing refinements to the first telescopes to improve the power and better the view. When these refinements, Galileo proceeded to make several key discoveries.

While we may have advanced leaps and bounds since the first telescope, and have made many discoveries with far more powerful instruments, there is no denying that the early work of Galileo guided science toward technological improvements. This blog is a tribute to the scientists who have brought science to where it is today.
