Our digital society makes astronomy quite foolproof and streamlined with software and smartphone apps that tell us what we can see from our exact geo-location. I’m a lazy astronomer by some standards and tend to refer to these applications for sheer lack of of motivation… sometimes.
But there’s always the simple poster-like moon map that I find irreplaceable by digital applications. I just love going back to it, and reading the names of each crater to a point where each perforation – “Dove”, “Walter”, “Janssen”, “Catharina” and Rosse” all seem to take on it’s own identity and personality.
Grab hold of these moon maps observe the craters and see what you think 🙂
