If you are looking at a hassle free, simple set-up telescope to gift to someone, I would recommend the Saxon 767AZ Telescope. It is a 76mm telescope with a focal length of 700mm. A great size to get you close to the moon and its craters.
What I find really good value about this telescope is the 3 eyepieces you get in the box. A 4mm, 12.5mm and 25mm is a great coverage of distances that will give you a good indication of what you can expect to see in the night sky. You also get a moon filter with the kit, which is very useful when viewing the moon at half or full phase.
For AUD $129.95*, I think that’s pretty good value.
*I think the scope is currently on discount, that makes it quite a sweet deal methinks.
