The ‘new’ kid on the block

The Nerd they call Gerald

I am not exactly what you would describe as a kid, but definitely a kid at heart.

Hi, my name is Gerald and I am the Sales Specialist at Optics Central.
My speciality is telescope configuration and astrophotography.

I am a graphic designer and photographer by trade and have 8 years experience in astrophotography. I started off my astro-imaging journey using a Nikon DSLR attached to a Saxon newtonian telescope and have progressed through to imaging with a 127mm APO North Group triplet refractor using a dedicated ZWO high end astronomy camera.

My photographic work has featured in The Herald-Sun and The Geelong Advertiser and I have been awarded an APOD (Astronomy Picture of the Day) of which I am very proud.

Part of my role as the Sales Specialist at Optics Central is to familiarise myself with what is out there in the marketplace and any new equipment that will become available. I have the privilege of using this equipment and reporting my experiences in the form of blogs and video production reviews.

Chances are you will speak to me on the phone and I hope I am able to help you with your enquiries to give you some guidance towards the right product for your needs, so you can become the next NASA astrophotographer!

Whatever your query, I hope I am able to give you some insight into what I am very passionate about and hope I can share with you my love of astronomy and astrophotography.

I would now like to share with you some examples of my work.
In future blogs I will go into greater detail as to how I achieved some of these results.

It is a fantastic hobby which will give you incredible insight into our local solar system and the universe.

Chat soon and clear skies!
