Offering impressive views at an affordable price, it’s the perfect choice for your first serious telescope!

Celestron founder's vision, reimagined for the 21st century:

In the 1970s, Celestron's Cassegrain telescopes were all the rage! Celestron's founder (Tom Johnson) brought the hobby of astronomy to the masses and invented their unique method of producing Schmidt corrector plates for superior views and maximum portability. Johnson believed in creating high-quality optical instruments at an affordable price, and inspired a generation of amateur astronomers (us)!

Today, Celestron is still building upon this original vision, improving and adding on innovative features while staying true to our founder’s intent.

View the Universe's Most Impressive Celestial Objects:

The 4SE's four-inch primary mirror packs enough light-gathering ability for you to observe the best that the solar system has to offer! You will clearly observe Saturn’s rings and Jupiter's cloud bands. Beyond the solar system, your faithful 4SE will show you hundreds of pinpoint stars in the Hercules Globular Cluster, the spiral arms of the Whirlpool Galaxy, and much more. Oh, and don’t forget the Moon! With this telescope, you’ll see its craters and geographic features like never before.

Revolutionary Single Fork Arm Mount:

We all know the best telescope is the one you will use most often. That’s why the NexStar SE’s unique, patented single fork arm mount was made just for you! It’s incredibly portable and makes setup quick and easy. The telescope kit breaks down into several light and compact pieces, making it easy to transport even in small vehicles. You’ll have no problem getting the NexStar SE to your favorite observing site, or setting it up quickly in your backyard.

The high-quality components and sturdy construction of the mount gives the NexStar SE that much-needed smooth tracking accuracy to observe and follow your favorite targets with ease. You can use the included NexStar+ hand control to locate over 40,000 celestial objects, or take a Sky Tour and let your telescope show you the best objects currently visible.

Aligning your telescope is simple and painless with SkyAlign! This process makes alignment as easy as 1-2-3: just center three bright objects in your eyepiece and press ALIGN. For even easier alignment, attach the optional StarSense AutoAlign accessory and your NexStar SE will align itself!

Advanced Features | Let the NexStar SE Grow with You:

The NexStar SE series is compatible with all the high-tech accessories advanced users love. With accessories such as the SkyPortal Wi-Fi Module, you can control your telescope wirelessly using your iPhone or iPad!

If you’re interested in astroimaging or astrophotography, this telescope is perfect with its built-in wedge that allows you to track long exposures. For planetary imaging, there’s no better choice than a NexStar 6SE paired with an astroimaging camera. From your first observing session and for years to come, the NexStar SE is your trusted companion.

Great price, awesome views Review by Marcus
Overall Score
really good telescope, very easy to set up. I thought the alignment step would put me off but I managed to do it quite easily. Sighted Saturn without much trouble.
Thanks Optics Central, I love my telescope!! (Posted on 3/06/2014)
Perfect for travelling Review by Pete .S
Overall Score
Work send me out of town a lot this year, so I bought this. It is a decent compact scope, great for planetary objects! The details are amazing. However, it wasn't great when i tried to look at star clusters or galaxies (although Orion nebula looks pretty good). All in all, this is a great telescope for serious beginners or if you need a smaller telescope to take around. (Posted on 29/05/2013)
