The Celestron NexStar 5SLT Telescope includes a pre-assembled, adjustable stainless steel tripod, quick-release fork arm, NexStar+ computerised hand control, a 5" Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tube, and a variety of essential accessories. Weighing just 7.2kg in total, the telescope is easy to transport and assemble without tools. The quick SkyAlign alignment system ensures you’ll be ready to observe within minutes.
Observing Capabilities
With the NexStar 5SLT, you can explore detailed features of the Moon, observe the phases of Venus, the polar ice caps of Mars, Jupiter and its four largest moons, and Saturn’s stunning rings. This versatile instrument also functions effectively as a terrestrial spotting scope for daytime and wildlife observation.
The telescope features a 5” (1250 mm focal length, f/10) Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tube, offering a well-rounded balance of performance and portability. Equipped with Celestron’s proprietary StarBright XLT coatings, the C5 optical system significantly enhances light transmission and image contrast, making faint celestial objects more visible and planetary detail more vivid. This proven design is ideal for both beginner and intermediate observers.
Mount & Technologies
Computerised Alt-Azimuth Mount
The single-fork arm mount provides smooth tracking of celestial objects as they move across the sky. It is securely supported by the included adjustable steel tripod, which comes fully pre-assembled for ease of setup.
NexStar+ Hand Control
The NexStar+ controller allows users to automatically slew to over 4,000 celestial objects with the touch of a button. The comprehensive database includes galaxies, star clusters, binary stars, and more. When you’re not sure what to observe, the built-in Sky Tour feature generates a customized list of the best objects currently visible based on your location and time.
SkyAlign Technology
Celestron’s innovative SkyAlign system makes alignment fast and intuitive. Simply point the telescope at any three bright objects—such as the Moon or planets—and the system will triangulate its position to precisely align the telescope. No prior knowledge of star names is required.
Flexible Power Options
Ideal for remote observation, the NexStar 5SLT operates on 8 AA batteries (not included) or can be powered by a Celestron PowerTank or a 12V AC adapter (sold separately). The internal battery compartment ensures a clean setup free from cord wrap issues while providing steady, low-vibration performance.
Included Accessories
The NexStar 5SLT comes complete with:
• StarPointer™ red dot finderscope for quick target acquisition
• Star diagonal for more comfortable, right-side-up viewing
• Two eyepieces (20mm and 9mm) offering both low and high-magnification options
Whether you're just starting your astronomical journey or looking to expand your toolkit, the NexStar 5SLT is fully compatible with Celestron’s advanced accessories, including StarSense AutoAlign, the SkyPortal WiFi Module, and the PowerTank Lithium Pro.
