As the name suggests, the Evolution 8 EdgeHD features Celestron's well-renowned EdgeHD Optics. When paired with the generous 8-inch aperture and StarBright XLT Coatings, you can expect bright views of deep-sky objects with edge-to-edge clarity, free of optical aberrations and off-axis coma. This means that even when used with powerful eyepieces or larger CCD / DSLR cameras, the EdgeHD remains flat-field and coma-free.

The Evolution 8-inch OTA also features a long focal length of 2032mm, offering great views of the planets, the moon and deep-sky objects.

 

And the revolutionary NexStar Evolution Computerised Mount.

The NexStar Evolution Mount is feature-packed, making it great for beginners and more serious astronomers alike. The Evolution Mount is powered by an in-built, rechargeable, lithium-iron phosphate battery with a continuous runtime of 10 hours. This makes it great for travelling, especially when paired with a relatively compact 8-inch SCT such as the 8 EdgeHD Optical Tube Assembly.

The Evolution Mount also features built-in WiFi. This means that in addition to using the included StarSense Hand Controller, you have the option to control the telescope using your smartphone or tablet. This mount also features StarSense AutoAlign, which makes it surprisingly uncomplicated to set up and use.

 Most importantly, the NexStar Evolution is a step above the NexStar SE. With manual release clutches and precisely machined worm gears for both axes, the Evolution Mount is incredibly robust and reliable. Expect great stability with the NexStar Evolution.
