It utilizes advanced Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (LiNiMnCoO₂ or NMC) technology to deliver consistent, reliable power over extended periods with minimal maintenance - surpassing traditional sealed lead-acid batteries.

Computerised telescopes are highly sensitive to voltage fluctuations. Operating them with insufficient voltage can result in motor strain and electronic malfunctions. To prevent this, the PowerTank Lithium LT features a built-in voltage regulator that maintains a steady output of at least 11.8 volts throughout most of the battery’s lifespan, ensuring optimal telescope performance until the battery is fully depleted.

Celestron’s engineering team collaborated directly with battery manufacturers to eliminate this issue in the PowerTank Lithium LT, delivering a stable 12V output regardless of the remaining charge.

 

Superior Battery Chemistry

The NMC chemistry used in the PowerTank Lithium LT offers significant advantages over conventional Lithium Cobalt Oxide (LiCoO₂) batteries.
It provides:

• Longer shelf life

• Up to three times more charge cycles

• Greater thermal resistance (tolerating temperatures up to 100°F/60°C higher than LiCoO₂ batteries)

• Enhanced safety, including overcharge/discharge protection

Compared to lead-acid batteries, the PowerTank Lithium LT is smaller, lighter, more efficient, and environmentally friendly. It incorporates multiple safety features, such as automatic shut-off, reverse polarity protection, overcurrent and short-circuit protection, and charging safeguards.

Compact and portable, the PowerTank Lithium LT is ideal for remote astrophotography sessions or camping trips. When powering your telescope, the included 2” strap allows you to conveniently secure the battery to a tripod leg—keeping it out of the way and eliminating cable clutter.

The unit offers dual output ports:

• One 12V DC port for powering your telescope

• One 5V, 2.1A USB port for charging smartphones, tablets, or powering USB accessories
