The Celestron T-Adapter allows you to transform your Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope into a powerful telephoto lens, enabling prime focus photography with SLR, DSLR or M42 Threaded Cameras including ZWO, QHY, Celestron and more. This durable metal camera adapter securely threads onto the rear cell of compatible C5 to C14 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes, providing the standard T-threads needed to connect a T-Ring.
To use this Celestron T-Adapter, you will also need a T-Ring that matches your camera's specific lens mount (sold separately). The T-Ring attaches to your camera body in place of the lens. This T-Adapter then threads onto your telescope's rear cell, and the camera/T-Ring assembly screws firmly onto the T-Adapter's threads. This setup effectively turns your telescope into a long focal length lens; for example, an 8-inch SCT becomes a 2000mm lens.
This setup is ideal for short-exposure photography of celestial objects like the Moon and planets, as well as for terrestrial scenes. This method allows you to use your standard camera as a capable astrophotography camera. For deep-sky astrophotography requiring longer exposures, using a guidescope or off-axis guider and an equatorial mount for precise tracking is recommended.
