Top of the Line Design

The 12" LightBridge Deluxe Truss-Tube Dobsonian features a superior Meade quality multi-coated, diffraction limited 12" primary mirror, focal length 1524mm (f/5). The LightBridge's mounting is just as brilliant as the optics with a a top of the line, fully adjustable, high strength but light weight aluminum stress free floating multi-point cell with built in cooling fan for the primary mirror. The cooling fan requires 8 (user supplied) AA batteries and is used to speed the cool down process of the primary mirror, improving image quality.

Why choose an Open-Truss?

The open truss design of the LightBridge Dobsonians excels over normal Dobsonian telescopes in three ways. First and foremost, if you are low on space or wish to travel with your deep-sky telescope, then the Open-Truss design is a complete dream to have. The open truss design are incredibly portable as they can be taken apart and set up within moments. This ensures that you have plenty of space to walk about your home without knocking into your prized telescope or that you have your sidekick with you when you are travelling to dark sites.

Secondly, if you are not already sold on the open truss design, the compact nature also does not detract from the viewing capabilities. The extremely rigid truss frame design ensures a no-compromise view through the telescope.

The last benefit is the sturdy laminated finish wooden Dobsonian mount which is built to give smooth and stable movement. With the premium features such as roller bearings on the azimuth (side to side) axis and large diameter aluminum altitude (vertical axis) bearings with a hand adjustable variable tension brake, the LightBridge Dobosonian is definitely well equipped for smooth and stable movement.

What's in the box?

The 12" LightBridge Deluxe Truss-Tube Dobsonian features a high quality, precision machined dual speed 2" Crayford style focuser with fine focus 10:1 speed reduction and 1.25" adapter so you can use either 1.25" or 2" barrel eyepieces. The LightBridge comes with a 2" diameter Meade Series 4000 26mm QX Wide Angle Eyepiece for stunning wide angle views, a viewfinder with an easy to use red dot unit with four user selectable reticle pattern options and seven step brightness control, and a bonus Meade AutoStar Suite Astronomer Edition Software for checking star charts and planet locations.

Fully assembled weight of the optical tube is 47 pounds (~21.3kg), mount weight is 33 pounds (~15.0kg). Ships in 2 boxes with weights of 55 (~24.95kg) and 39 pounds (~17.69kg).

Be prepared to be amazed by a new view Review by Brian
Overall Score
I toyed with getting the 16" but the rotating base would not fit through my doors. In the end, this is really a good and manageable size and weight. Having a spinal injury from a few years ago, I can assemble and operate this with ease.
My first view.
Saturn...What else. Well it was just opportune that evening but what took my breath away was not the rings. I am used to the 4 moons of Jupiter on my 6" Dobsonian but nothing prepared me to see 14 sparkling jewels around Saturn. My thoughts where of an optical fault until I realised what I was really seeing. And that was in metropolitan city viewing. Country is even better!!
This telescope is great. Alignment is a small bother but I invested in a laser colimator and that makes life much easier.

Highly recommend purchase (Posted on 9/08/2019)
