What to Expect
Microscope Mania is a kid-friendly event, encouraging them to get invloved in science by opening their eyes to the wonders of the microscopic world. During the event, there will be a range of fun and educational activities involving microscopes that will definitely get them excited about the STEM fields.
Explore the hidden world through our microscopes
There will be a variety of microscopes to explore, including stereo, biological, and digital microscopes, allowing you to marvel at the intricate details of objects at a microscopic level. Ever wondered what a scorpion or beetle looks like up close? Don’t worry—they’re preserved in resin! You’ll also have the chance to examine biological slides of plant and animal cells. These are just a few of the fascinating specimens you can examine on the day!
Draw what you can see
We have a special activity just for kids to unleash their creativity! Along with exploring through the microscopes, they’ll be encouraged to draw what they see—adding their own creative flair to each specimen. This hands-on approach not only makes learning fun but also helps them study the intricate details of each specimen more closely.
Slide preparation activity
This activity is designed for older kids, but parents are welcome to join in and assist younger children! You'll get hands-on experience creating your own microscope slide—from preparing the samples to applying the staining dye. It’s a great way to step into the role of a scientist and see what it’s like to work in a lab!
