Optics Central is proud to be a recognised host of NASA's 2022 International Observe the Moon Night.

Come together with other curious individuals for a fun night of exploring the moon (and the rest of the night sky)! You'll be able to take full advantage of our wide range of telescopes and binoculars on display - how exciting!

This event is free for anyone interested in astronomy and telescopes. To help us prepare for the event, please let us know you're coming by securing your free ticket through EventBrite.

We'll have an impressive range of telescopes set up for use, ranging from the most simple-to-use telescopes to more serious, comprehensive examples from brands such as Saxon, Celestron and Sky-Watcher.

What's On?

6PM:	Introduction to Astrophotography Presentation + Activity Stands open (including a fun station for kids)!
6:30PM:	Demonstration: Setting Up a Telescope
7PM:	Telescope Viewing begins
8PM:	Competition (with a prize for the winner(s))!!
9PM:	Last Chance to use a telescope & competition winner revealed
10PM:	Event closes

For beginners, expert observers and anyone in between. All ages are welcome!

Each and every person deserves the opportunity to appreciate the moon. That's why we're hosting an International Observe the Moon Night at Optics Central.

Are you just getting started in astronomy and stargazing? Don't fret, we'll have plenty of people to talk to!

We'll have heaps of fun activities to participate in, and some surprises too! And mums and dads, don't worry, we have something for all ages - including a 'fun station' workshop for kids!

Did someone say giveaway???

Yes, you read that right: we'll be running a very special competition with a prize for the winner(s)! I've already said too much - all you need to remember to do is register your attendance and join us for a fun-filled, exciting night!

Snags will be sizzling!

We'll be running a sausage sizzle with free snags up for grabs! There will be both meat and vegetarian options available. Other refreshments and snacks will also be available.

And yes, you'll have access to exclusive deals.

This is a COVIDSafe Event.

To satisfy density requirements, we have a limited number of reserved spots available. The viewing area is outdoors and will be well-ventilated. We will also be running an air purifier in areas with high foot traffic. Masks are not mandatory but are well recommended when a physical distance of at least 1.5 metres from others cannot be maintained. A sanitiser station will be open with masks, hand sanitiser and disinfectant wipes available for use.
