The QHY178M Cooled CMOS Planetary Camera - Monochrome features a 6.29-megapixel Sony Exmor IMX178 monochrome CMOS sensor with a 1/1.8-inch chip. This provides enhanced sensitivity, making it ideal for capturing faint details in deep-sky objects and delivering exceptional contrast and resolution for planetary imaging. With a 2.4μm pixel size, this camera excels in fine-detail photography.
One of the most important feature on this camera is that it is cooled, which makes it perfect for long exposure sessions. The QHY178 has the capacity to cool 40ºC below ambient. Incorporated with anti-dew technology, the CMOS chamer is fully sealed and includes a silicon tube socket as well as a heater to avoid dew formation, so that users can enjoy a relaxed imaging session even on damp nights.
The QHY178M Monochrome camera features a 4-pin filter wheel connector, making it easy to integrate with automated filter wheels for capturing multi-filter images in LRGB or narrowband imaging. It also includes a 6-pin guiding port, offering precise guiding for long exposure sessions. This makes it a versatile camera for advanced astrophotography setups, allowing you to switch between filters and maintain accurate tracking throughout your imaging session.
The QHY178 Monochrome camera incorporates advanced amp-glow suppression technology, eliminating unwanted glow during long-exposure sessions. This ensures cleaner backgrounds in your deep-sky images, making it perfect for astrophotographers aiming for precision and clarity. The camera is also fitted with an AR+AR multi-layer anti-reflection coated optic window to minimise light loss and reflections, optimising the camera's performance under various conditions.
The QHY178 Monochrome camera is powered via USB for camera operations, and the Thermoelectric Cooling (TEC) system uses a +12V power supply (sold separately). The TEC system ensures the camera stays cool during extended imaging sessions, reducing noise and allowing for sharper images even in warmer environments
