The QHY247C uses a SONY IMX193 APS size color CMOS sensor. It has a 14-bit A/D with a full well capacity of 36ke-. The read noise is 1e- to 2.7e-, the lowest noise tested at the lowest gain in the entire QHYCCD COLDMOS product line. This makes it an ideal camera for light polluted areas because it is suited to stacking many short exposures.

The QHY247C has 24 megapixels in a 6024 x 4024 array of 3.9µm pixels. When combined with high quality telescope optics or a RASA telescope, the QHY247C can generate images that are ideal for large scale printing.

Low dark current

In addition to dual stage TE cooling, QHYCCD implements proprietary technology in hardware to control the dark current noise in the QHY247C. As a result the dark current of this camera is a remarkable 0.0012e-/p/s at -15C.

Halo reduction and anti-reflection coatings

Halos around bright stars are caused by reflections between surfaces of elements in the optical path. An uncoated surface usually reflects about 8%-10% of the light striking it while a high quality multiple layer coating reflects only 1% or less. The IMX193 has superb quality AR coatings on the sensor and this can significantly reduce the halo effect.

Anti-Dew Technology

The QHY247C has two-way dew control: the optical window has a built-in dew heater and the CMOS chamber is protected from internal humidity condensation.

128MB DDRII Buffer

The QHY247C has a 128MB DDRII buffer which is which is used for storing the image inside the camera prior to or while downloading to the computer. This avoids image loss due to interruptions or slow communication with slower computers or USB2.0 connections.
