Repairs

*Please note: These fees are for binoculars outside of warranty only. All brand new binoculars purchased from OpticsCentral are entitled to repair of major or minor faults for the duration of the binocular's own warranty period.

 


Most astronomers and birdwatchers would agree that telescopes and binoculars need more TLC to keep their gear in good condition than they've given. Goodness knows, they've gone through a lot for us to practice our passions. Whether its a missing eyecup from your recent trek in Africa, to a general servicing, or even fell off a building, our in-house team or partners will bring your binoculars or telescope back to life.

What can we do?

Our most common services are collimation, cleaning, general servicing of binoculars and finding and replacing spare parts. We are fully aware of these common problems from our customers, and at OpticsCentral, we want to ensure each customer gets the opportunity to keep using their favourite binoculars running, even years out of warranty!

The Process

Here's a step-by-step on how you arrange a repair from us:

STEP 1:

First, send us the picture of your item that needs repair to support@opticscentral.com.au with your full name or order number (if any), and the information on what repairs are required. Sending images will allow us to estimate the severity of the damage and whether or not you can actually fix them yourself at home. This process will take up to 1-3 days. 

STEP 2:

Once the damage/issue is confirmed, we will send you a confirmation e-mail saying that your repair is approved 

STEP 3:

You will need to ship the item back to us (address is at the bottom of this page) or bring it in to our store in Mitcham if you live around Victoria (to eliminate the cost of shipping). This process takes about a week or faster, depends on the courier. 

STEP 4: 

Once we acquired the item, we will do a thorough inspection. For simple repairs of telescopes and binoculars, we can do so in-store through our dedicated service staff. For more complicated procedures, we will organise for your binoculars and telescopes to be repaired by an experienced optics specialist. We will send you a quote based on the degree of repair required. As soon as the payment is made, the item will be available for you (pick-up or shipped). This process takes 3-4 weeks.

VOILA! In 4-6 weeks, you'll get your telescope/binoculars back fully functional, and ready to use again!
