Saxon is a long time leader in optics and telescope technology. So it is no wonder their research and quality design was merged to produce one of their most sought after telescopes - the Saxon 12" Dobsonian Telescope. This scope features a huge diameter (12 inches) and a remarkable 1500mm focal length. Also fitted with a Pyrex glass, you can be assured you are looking through stunning visual quality.

Pyrex Glass
The Saxon 12" Dobsonian Telescope is fitted with a primary mirror made of Pyrex Glass. This type of glass, typically used in laboratories, can withstand thermal expansion extremely well and is hence less likely to expand or contract due to temperatures changes. The consistency of this glass ensures the images produces are always sharp. Pyrex glass is also substantially more resistant to scratching than plate glass.

This scope faeturs a solid 2" Crayford focuser and 1.25" adapter so eyepieces of any size is acceptable. This model also includes a new Tension Control Handle feature.

Proprietary Tension Control Handle
The Saxon 12" Dobsonian Telescope is fitted with a Tension Control Handle (US Patent #6,940,642), to provide a tension adjuster so that users can easily turns to add or reduce tension, thereby increasing or decreasing the friction between the optical tube and the sideboard of the mount. Telescopes then need not be balanced in order to stay in position. A tension adjuster also allows the optical tube to stay in position although the tube can still be moved when prompted.

The Saxon 12 inch Dobsonian Telescope is covered by a 5-Year Manufacturer's Warranty.

Customer Reviews

Absolutely breathtaking! Review by Mel
Overall Score
I have used this a handful of times to look at Jupiter, Saturn, the Moon, Orion Nebula, Betelgeuse and more using just the stock standard accessories. The views are much more defined and absolutely breathtaking compared to smaller (and even more expensive telescopes) that I have tried including cassegrains and refractors. Not too hard to control as well (I was put off by the manual adjustments at first). Well worth the money! (Posted on 13/03/2020)
Happy with the purchase and technical support that I've been given. Review by Daniel
Overall Score
I recently purchased the above telescope, and am very happy with it so far. This is my first telescope and wanted a more beginner to intermediate so I didn't need to upgrade in the future. I'm still learning but can't wait to capture some good images of the moon and other stars/planes. Andrew has provided so much help and answered any questions I have regarding eye pieces, setup and also DSLR connectivity. Now that I have some knowledge with collimating, aligning the finder scope and camera accessories to provide good images, I can't wait for a clear night to test this out.

This was also very easy to setup, the manual is detailed and I had it up in about 45 minutes with very little knowledge to begin with.

Very happy with the product, and the support is invaluable that's been provided.

Thanks! (Posted on 26/06/2017)
