With an equatorial mount you learn to scan the sky according to how the equator is shaped - challenging and exciting at the same time!  Also included with the F1149EQ is a single-axis motor drive, smooth rack and pinion focuser, three Super 1.25" eyepieces, 1.5x erecting lens for terrestrial use and an aluminium tripod. Expect 125% more light with this scope than a than 76mm tube and 165% more light than 70mm scopes. This is a good beginner's reflector, suitable for Moon and planets. If you are interested in detailed planetary viewing, opt for a 2x barlow lens (sold separately) to get even more magnification. This telescope can handle up to 228x magnification! if you're interested in astrophotography, you can upgrade your mount with an EQ1 motor drive to move your mount with a motor at a set speed.
