    Your Rating

Q1. What is the saxon NEQ6 Pro GOTO Mount used for?

The saxon NEQ6 Pro is a high-capacity computerised equatorial mount designed for visual astronomy and serious astrophotography. It offers exceptional tracking performance for deep-sky imaging, long-exposure photography and advanced observing setups.

Q2. Is the NEQ6 Pro good for astrophotography in Australia?

Yes. The NEQ6 Pro is widely considered one of the best astrophotography mounts in Australia, offering reliable tracking, strong payload support and compatibility with popular imaging software like ASIAIR, NINA and PHD2.

Q3. What is the payload capacity of the NEQ6 Pro?

The mount supports around 20 kg, making it suitable for large refractors, 8–10" SCTs, imaging Newtonians and RC telescopes frequently used in deep-sky astrophotography.

Q4. Does this mount include a steel tripod?

Yes. The included steel tripod provides excellent rigidity and vibration control—important for long-exposure astrophotography and stable visual observing.

Q5. What telescopes are compatible with the NEQ6 Pro?

The NEQ6 Pro typically features a dual saddle or wide dovetail clamp that supports both Vixen-style and Losmandy-style dovetail bars, allowing compatibility with most saxon, Sky-Watcher, Celestron and GSO telescopes sold in Australia.

Q6. How accurate is the SynScan GOTO system?

The SynScan GOTO controller provides accurate slewing and smooth tracking to thousands of celestial objects. This accuracy is ideal for astrophotography, guiding systems and precise polar alignment.

Q7. Can the NEQ6 Pro be used with guiding software?

Absolutely. The NEQ6 Pro supports autoguiding through an ST-4 port and integrates well with PHD2, ASIAIR, NINA, Sharpcap and other popular astrophotography guiding tools.

Q8. Is the NEQ6 Pro suitable for beginners?

While it is more suited to intermediate and advanced users, beginners planning to grow into astrophotography often choose the NEQ6 Pro because it provides a long-term platform without needing future upgrades.

Q9. Can the NEQ6 Pro be controlled from a computer, tablet or phone?

Yes. With an EQMOD cable or Wi-Fi adapter, the NEQ6 Pro can be connected to a PC or mobile device and controlled through apps or planetarium software. It is fully ASCOM-compatible for imaging setups.

Q10. Is the NEQ6 Pro portable enough for Australian dark-sky trips?

The mount is heavy-duty and not as portable as smaller EQ mounts, but still manageable for transporting to dark-sky sites across Australia. Many astrophotographers use it as a semi-permanent setup due to its stability.
