Sky-Watcher Skymax 127 Virtuoso GTi: A Compact Powerhouse

The Skywatcher 127mm Virtuoso GTI WIFI Table Dobsonian is a compact, portable, and highly capable tabletop Dobsonian telescope. This well-designed scope is perfect for lunar and planetary viewing as well as any situation calling for a compact, sharp instrument.

Optical System

The Skymax 127 Virtuoso GTi is equipped with an impressive optical system that consists of a front meniscus (have two curved surfaces, one with an outward-curved face and the other with an inward-curved one) lens and two mirrors. This system helps to reduce the color fringing situation, at the same time keeping the tube from atmospheric factors, such as dust, dirt, and humidity for a better viewing experience.

The optical tube is a 127mm (5”) f/11.8 Maksutov-Cassegrain with a 1500mm focal length, and serves as the mid-range option within the Skymax line of Maksutov-Cassegrains. The primary mirror of the SkyMax 127 Maksutov is slightly undersized, stopping it at about 120mm in aperture. This minimal reduction makes the scope half an f-stop slower at f/12.5

Mount and Accessories

The Sky-Watcher Skymax 127 Virtuoso GTi package combines the Skymax 127 Maksutov-Cassegrain optical tube with the Virtuoso GTi mount. It's an excellent tabletop setup and can be attached to a sturdy tripod too.

The Virtuoso GTi mount allows for both manual and computerised slewing and makes for a convenient and adaptable setup.
