The EQ8-RH Pro is available either as a complete set with a pier tripod or as just the mount head for installation onto a static pier. Both options come with two 10kg counterweights and the Synscan computerised handset. The mount is also compatible with the optional Synscan Wi-Fi adaptor and Synscan Pro Apps for wireless control.

The EQ8-RH Pro is identical to the EQ8-R model, except that the EQ8-RH features a high-end Renishaw encoder on the R.A. axis, enabling astrophotography without an autoguider. Both the Sky-Watcher EQ8-R PRO and the Sky-Watcher EQ8-RH are available with or without a dedicated heavy-duty tripod-pier.

The EQ8-RH Pro has several improvements over the previous EQ8 model:

- Improved balance due to a better motor installation position.
- More holding strength due to an improved clutch mechanism.
- Added comfort and increased locking power due to an improved dovetail groove knob.
- Quiet slewing due to a belt drive on the DEC axes.
