The ToupTek SkyEye62AM Full Frame Monochrome Deep Sky Astronomy Camera is a premium cooled astronomy camera designed for advanced astrophotography. At its heart is the powerful Sony IMX455 full-frame 61MP BSI CMOS sensor, providing an incredibly high resolution of 9576 x 6388 pixels. This large 35.9mm x 24mm sensor features 3.76μm pixels and an impressive 16-bit A/D converter, enabling it to capture a wide dynamic range.

One of the standout features is the sensor's exceptional quantum efficiency exceeding 80% across most of the visible and near-infrared spectrum. This high QE allows more photons to be detected, resulting in faster exposures and greater detail captured from faint astronomical objects like nebulae and galaxies.

The SkyEye 62AM boasts an impressively low read noise of only 0.89e- when using the unity gain setting. This minimizes random noise in the images. Additionally, the full-well capacity is a massive 51,000 electrons, preventing overexposure of bright stars and preserving detail in the cores.

Thermal noise is well-controlled through a robust thermoelectric cooling system capable of chilling the sensor up to 35°C below ambient temperature. This deep cooling dramatically reduces hot pixel noise and dark current, enabling ultra-long exposures without excessive noise.

One unique advantage is the complete lack of amplifier glow, even at high sensor gain settings used for very faint targets. Compare the two 5-minute exposures – the SkyEye 62AM (right) shows a clean background free from the warm amplifier glow.

The camera body is built with integrated dew prevention in the form of a thermostatically controlled window heater with 4 adjustable heating levels. Imaging is controlled via the fast USB 3.0 interface and 512MB DDR3 buffer memory for rapid data transfer and frame capture.

For convenience, Touptek included a built-in dual USB 2.0 hub to connect guide cameras, electronic focusers, filter wheels and other accessories directly to the camera's USB hub ports. This streamlines cabling and simplifies the imaging setup.
