The ZWOFF80 APO is a refractive astrograph featuring a powerful flatfield optical design that eliminates the need for a costly field flattener. It simplifies the process of calculating the back focus distance of the flattener and connecting various accessories to achieve the desired distance. Users can connect any necessary accessories without hassle, as long as the target is in focus, ensuring optimal performance of the entire optical system. This streamlines the setup process, saving time and allowing users to focus more on capturing high-quality images.
The ZWOFF80 APO is also suitable for visual observation purposes. It accommodates diagonals and various eyepieces, enabling perfect focus. It can even be used for observing planets using super-high magnification eyepieces.
The telescope's overall design is compact and lightweight. The optical tube assembly (OTA) weighs only 3kg, while the full package, including tube rings and other accessories, weighs 3.9kg. It boasts a 80mm aperture, an f/7.5 focal ratio, and a focal length of 600mm. Unlike other ZWO FF APO telescopes with a quadruplet structure, the FF80 APO employs a quintuplet design with two extra-low dispersion (ED) glasses, ensuring excellent control over chromatic and other aberrations.
The FF80 APO supports the full-frame imaging circle and provides a fine spot diagram with minimal distortions in the peripheral stars. The included 2.5" rigid focuser features a new-type 360° rotator equipped with scales and a finder base. Additionally, the telescope comes with M68, M54, and M48 camera adapters, with the M48 adapter featuring a 2" female thread for easy installation of filters.
