ZWO Seestar S30 Pro Smart Telescope Branded Introduction

The ZWO Seestar S30 Pro Smart Telescope is an upgraded all-in-one smart astronomy system that builds on the original Seestar S30 with enhanced imaging performance, expanded shooting modes, and deeper system integration. Designed to simplify astrophotography and nightscape imaging, the Seestar S30 Pro combines telescope optics, dual cameras, motorised tracking, filters, autofocusing, control electronics, and power into a single compact unit.

Also referred to as the Seestar S30 Pro, ZWO S30 Pro, or ZWO Seestar S30 Pro Smart Telescope, this system is built for users who want high-quality results without complex setup or multiple accessories.

ZWO Seestar S30 Pro Smart Telescope Key Features

    4K Dual-Lens Imaging System

The Seestar S30 Pro Smart Telescope features a true 4K dual-lens design, allowing both telephoto and wide-angle photography in one device. Each imaging path uses its own dedicated sensor to ensure optimal performance for different targets.

The telephoto system is equipped with a Sony IMX585 colour sensor paired with a 30mm apochromatic triplet refractor, producing detailed images of deep-sky objects and solar system targets. The wide-angle system uses a Sony IMX586 colour sensor with a fast f/1.75 lens, ideal for Milky Way photography, nightscapes, and wide celestial views.

Both lenses deliver 2160 × 3840 pixel resolution (8.3MP), supporting high-detail stills and video capture across all imaging modes.

    Four Dedicated Imaging Modes

The ZWO Seestar S30 Pro includes four built-in imaging modes designed to cover a wide range of use cases.

Stargazing mode is optimised for deep-sky imaging such as nebulae and galaxies. Milky Way mode uses the wide-angle optics to capture expansive night sky landscapes. Solar system mode is tuned for bright objects like the Moon and planets, while scenery mode allows daytime and terrestrial photography.

These modes automate exposure, tracking, and processing, making the Seestar S30 Pro Smart Telescope suitable for beginners while remaining capable enough for experienced users.

    Advanced Optics & Integrated Filters

The refractor optical design uses an apochromatic triplet lens to improve colour accuracy and minimise chromatic aberration. The telephoto optics provide a 30mm aperture with a 160mm focal length at f/5.3, while the wide-angle optics feature a 3.4mm aperture with a 6mm focal length at f/1.75.

An integrated filter system is built directly into the Seestar S30 Pro, removing the need for external filter wheels. Included filters are a UV/IR cut filter, a duo-band filter with OIII 30nm and H-alpha 20nm passbands, a dark filter for calibration frames, and an external solar filter for safe solar observation.

ZWO Seestar S30 Pro Smart Telescope All In One Features

    True All-in-One Smart Telescope Design

The ZWO Seestar S30 Pro Smart Telescope is a complete, self-contained imaging solution. It integrates an equatorial and alt-azimuth mount, telescope optics, camera system, motorised filter system, autofocuser, controller, and internal power supply into one compact housing.

This all-in-one approach reduces setup time, eliminates complex cabling, and ensures consistent performance across imaging sessions, whether used at home or on the road.

    Connectivity & Storage

Wireless control and data transfer are supported via dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth, and USB-C. Wi-Fi operates within a range of up to 10 metres, while Bluetooth supports connections within 5 metres.

The Seestar S30 Pro includes 128GB of internal storage, allowing extended imaging sessions without the need for external memory cards. Images can be saved in JPEG or FITS format, with video recording available in MP4 and AVI formats.

    Power, Mount & Portability

A built-in 6000mAh battery provides up to 6 hours of runtime per charge. Power input and charging are handled via USB-C (5V~3A), making the system compatible with power banks and standard USB chargers.

The mount supports both equatorial and alt-azimuth operation, with adjustable slew speeds from 1x to 1440x for smooth tracking and fast target acquisition. A mechanical zero position ensures repeatable alignment.

The ZWO Seestar S30 Pro weighs approximately 1.65kg and measures 210 × 140 × 80mm. An ultra-light aluminium alloy tripod is included, featuring a collapsible design and standard 3/8-inch mounting thread.

    Your Rating

Q1. Does the ZWO Seestar S30 Pro require manual alignment?

No. It features auto-alignment and automatic object tracking, making it beginner-friendly with no need for polar alignment or manual calibration. There will be a calibration sequence for levelling the tripod.

Q2. Can I use the Seestar S30 Pro indoors or through a window?

No. For accurate alignment and clear viewing, the telescope must be used outdoors with a clear view of the sky.

Q3. How do I update the firmware?

Firmware updates are delivered via the Seestar app. Ensure your telescope is connected to Wi-Fi, then follow prompts in the app to install the latest version.

Q4. How should I clean the optics?

Use a soft blower to remove dust from the lens. If needed, use a microfibre cloth and optical lens cleaner. Avoid touching the lens with your fingers.

Q5. Can I replace the battery?

Replacement internal battery is available. Contact staff for availability and pricing. For best longevity, charge it regularly and avoid draining it completely.

Q6. Can I control the Seestar without an internet connection?

Yes, it creates its own Wi-Fi hotspot. You can connect directly to it with your device even without mobile data or home Wi-Fi.

Q7. Why is the image quality better in TIFF than in FITS?

TIFF files are processed for visual quality, while FITS files are raw and may appear washed out or noisy. FITS are preferred for advanced post-processing.

Q8. Why are there star trails in my images?

This could result from vibration or poor leveling. Ensure the tripod is stable and the device is on solid ground. Restart the auto-alignment if necessary.
